The things our customers ask us most

A friendly, jargon-free rundown of how skip hire with us works across Wakefield and the WF postcodes.

Take a look at our skip size guide for an idea of the sizes available and the jobs they suit. Unless ground space is tight, it's worth going one size up: you'll be surprised how quickly a skip fills once you get started. Capacities are a guide only, so please don't overfill, as an overloaded skip can be unsafe and may mean our driver can't collect it.

Skips are great for inert waste, soil, garden waste, paper, plastics, wood, old household furniture and other non-hazardous household and trade waste.

Please keep out fridges and freezers, fluorescent or sodium lamps, gas cylinders, tyres, solvent and paint cans, clinical or medical waste, liquids, oils, asbestos and any other hazardous waste. These items are prohibited unless they've been pre-arranged with us when you place your order.

Skips must be level-loaded, meaning the waste should not sit above the top edge of the skip. This keeps the skip safe to transport on the road. It's actually illegal to overfill a skip, so if you're nearing the top, give us a ring and we'll sort a solution.

On private property, virtually anywhere the lorry can reach. All our lorries have extending arms, so we can drop skips into awkward and tight spaces. The lorries are roughly 10ft (3 metres) wide and need a reasonably firm base to load, unload and set the skip down on. If the skip is going on the road, we just need enough space for the lorry to park directly in front of it.

Only if the skip is going on a public road or highway, in which case yes, a permit is required and we can arrange it for you. On your own private property or driveway, no permit is needed. If a permit can't be obtained and there's no private land available, we also offer a handy wait-and-load service.

We can usually deliver a skip the next working day (subject to permits), and same-day delivery is often available too. Need it in a hurry? Just give us a ring and we'll do our best to help.

Our operating hours are 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. We'll always agree a convenient time with you for delivery and collection.

Skips can be kept for up to 7 days as standard. If you think you'll need it for longer, just call our friendly local team and we'll happily find a convenient solution for you.

Yes! Over 90% of the waste that goes into our skips is sorted and recycled, and we're working towards zero waste to landfill. Cardboard goes to paper mills, glass is re-melted, plastic is made into new packaging and food waste is composted. Anything that can't be reused or recycled is recovered through methods such as energy-from-waste. Looking after our local environment matters to us.
